A Gothic gauntlet, South German circa 1480/90 The pleated metacarpus of four sliding lames and embossed for the ulna. Knuckle protection with hammered domes and lozenged-shaped ornamental engravings. Fluted finger defences of three sliding lames with appending finger scales, riveted on leather. The thumb defence with scales a historism period replacement. The cuff to be closed in the hinge with pointed, turned under edge, buckle riveted on the side. The metal surfaces heavily cleaned.
