Muslim devotees paying homage to Moinuddin Chishti, the most revered sufi leader in the Indian subcontinent ( India)

Known for his tolerance, Moinuddin Chishti is a sufi master who lived in the 12°-13° centuries and who has become a symbol of modern India, 800 years after his death. In a country divided by religious antagonisms, his message in favour of the needy has saved him a nickname, "Gharib Nawaz", the protector of the poor, and the respect of all, whatever their religion. At Ajmer, his tomb, the "Dargah sharif", has become the main place of muslim pilgrimage in the indian subcontinent. Although worshipping at saint's tomb is condemned by orthodox Islam, the place attracts hundreds of thousands of worshippers through the year and also sufis and fakirs towards a haven of peace which leaves hope that solidarity is stronger than particularisms.
