Eastern grey squirrel. Eastern grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) feeding. This squirrel is a native of the US forests from the east coast, west to Texas. It eats nuts, pine cones and berries, as well as insects and young birds. The species was introduced to the UK in 1889 and has since driven out the native European red squirrel from much of the UK. Photographed in Regent's Park, London, UK.
