The lights of Leh, Ladakh shine in the dark of the night and light up the side of Leh Palace which towers above the city. The glow of Shanti Stupa can be seen on the cliffs in the distance. Leh is the capital city of India's northern province of Ladakh in the Himalayas, and sits on the edge of the Indus Valley tucked away in the peaks of the Himalayan mountains. Traditional mud brick houses and monasteries called gompas are built in the style of tibetan architecture, and many exiled tibetan buddhists call this city home.
