Ragwort, a highly poisonous plant to herbivores (most serious horses and ponies) found throughout the united kingdom as a result of successive weak and ineffectual government agricultural policy Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea) is not usually a significant problem in gardens, but its poisonous qualities can make it a serious weed of paddocks and gardens backing onto fields grazed by horses or cattle. Ragwort was brought into the UK from south America by Victorians as a pretty plant to brighten up railway embankments as it thrives in poor soil.
