A fine cut and gilded luxury flintlock shotgun, German, circa 1760 Two-stage barrel, flattened on the sides then round after a girdle, smooth bore in 16 mm calibre, iron front sight. Cut in relief above the chamber against a gilded ground a long cartouche displaying bundled trophies of war, antique-style figures and animals in between elegant Rocaille décor. The gilded flintlock with hammer safety cut en suite, on the inside marked "NILD". Florally carved walnut half stock with horn nosepiece and copiously cut, gilded iron mountings.
