A French spontoon, 18th century. Blade richly etched with a portrait medallion, trophies and strapwork, with remains of gilding. Tapering socket segmented by balusters. Studded and velvet-covered haft with fringes of later date. Fabrics with slights signs of age and wear, the haft somewhat shortened.
