'A Three Days' Chase and Capture', c1809. On 6 March 1808, the British frigate HMS 'San Fiorenzo', under the command of Captain George Nicholas Hardinge (1781-1808), embarked on a three day pursuit of the French frigate 'Piemontaise', resulting in its capture after a battle in the Gulf of Mannar off the south-eastern coast of India.
