Tricastin nuclear power station, near the town of Pierrelatte in southern France. It has four pressurized water reactors (PWRs), housed in the cylindrical buildings near centre. Each reactor is capable of producing 915 megawatts (MW) of power from the fissioning of their uranium fuel. They were built in the 1970s, coming online in the early 1980s. Some of the power generated is used elsewhere in the large Tricastin site, powering facilities such as the Eurodif uranium enrichment factory. Electricity pylons and wires (far left and far right) distribute the electricity that is generated. Photographed in 2011.
