This stirring picture shows the gallant siege of the Ninety-third Highlanders at the Battle of Balaklava in the Crimean War. This engagement was fought October 25, 1854, and was the scene of the famous “Charge of the Light Brigade,” which Tennyson has immortalized in his poem of that name.
