Land slugs tend not to be beautiful, but marine slugs - or nudibranchs - are the jewels of the sea. This one (Gymnodoris ceylonica) makes the point .

Many nudibranchs, such as this one, do not appear to have common names. Nonetheless, they tend to be very popular with divers and have been called the jewels of the sea. This species is characterised by a white body with many small orange spots, with the gills and rhinophores also being orange. It has a wide distribution in the Indo-Pacific Ocean region. Somewhat confusingly, it seems to be called Gymnodoris ceylonica in the east and Trevelyana picta in the west.
