Troodon inaequalis. Illustration of Troodon inaequalis, a species of bird-like dinosaur from the Campanian age of the Cretaceous period, approximately 77 million years ago. Troodon species had long, slender hind limbs, with retractable sickle-shaped claws on the second toes. They had large eyes, and large brains for dinosaurs. They may have been predators, or omnivorous. They perished in the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event 65 million years ago.
