Sled dogs sit by their kennels at Ilulissat, Greenland

Sled dogs sit by their kennels at Ilulissat, with 4,000 people, the third largest town in Greenland on the country's southwest shore. The number of dogs in town has dropped from 6,000 to 2,000 because hunters cannot get seals as easily as in the past due to the earlier breakup of pack ice in the sea. Scientists attribute this change to global warming.
