A Cattle Egret, Bubulcus ibis, stands near its three chicks in readiness for a feeding. The parent egret assumes a wonderfully regal posture in the nest of pond apple leaves. Its mating plumage of rust or buff colored head,chest and back plumes looks beautiful against the white feathers and the green leaves of background.
