A paralysed grasshopper outside a mortician wasps nesting hole in a cave floor

The mortician wasp finds itself a grasshopper, often several times its own size. It stings the grasshopper, which paralyses it, and then flies up into the cave where it has prepared a hole into which it drags its' victim. The wasp lays its eggs inside the insect, they hatch, and have live grasshopper to eat - albeit only temporarily
