A dead Cape Gannet sea bird lies on the beach at Natures Valley along South Africa's Garden Route. The Cape Gannet originally Sula capensis, is a large seabird of the gannet family, Sulidae. They are easily identified by their large size, black and white plumage and distinctive yellow crown and hindneck. They are known for steep dives into the ocean and sometimes break their neck in doing this.
