The tar road to the town of Fauresmith in the Free State province of South Africa, fringed with tall winter grass, shoots perfectly straight towards a line of low hills in the distance. The town is located between Koffiefontein and Springfontein, and was named after the Reverend Phillip Faure and Sir Harry Smith.
