Water in the Grootriver (Big River) flow swiftly over a grass bank in the course of the river. Colourants from roots and rotting vegatation cause the water to have a wine colour. This occurs in all rivers that flow, down from the coastal mountains along the Indian Ocean along the southern coasts of South Africa.
