Shown in the early 1920s reconstruction image is the facade of a house uncovered at Akhetaten (Amarna). Akhenaten was an 18th Dynasty (New Kingdom) Egyptian pharaoh, who introduced the sole worship of the Aten (symbolized by the sun disk at top, extending its rays and blessings on the royal family - with a hand at the bottom of each ray)—it is this design that is depicted on the middle portion of the triptych at the top of the stairs. He and his wife Nefertiti had three daughters. He ruled in the 1300s Akhenaten built Akhenaten (better known today as el-Amarna), as his capital city.
