Rainbow Springs State Park is the source of the Rainbow River in North Central Florida.

The headspring of this river in North Central Florida is unmatched among Florida's springs for beauty and clarity of its crystal clear waters. It is a first magnitude spring issuing 600 million gallons of crystal clear water a day, and is the 4th largest in Florida. The river runs for miles to Dunnellon where it merges with the Withlacoochee River. These phosphate mining pits were abandoned around the turn of the century in the late 1800's.
