A late 1800's engraving of a Castle mansion on the island of Funen, Denmark. It is the 16th largest island in the world and the 3rd largest island in Denmark. Though not marked as such on the illustration it appears to be Egescov / Egeskov Slot castle near Kværndrup, which is considered Europe's best preserved Renaissance water castle. It was originally built by Frands Brockenhuus in 1554. Its original sole entrance was a drawbridge, and it is said it took an entire forest of oak trees to build the foundation, giving it the name Egeskov meaning "oak forest".
