WAR OF THE ROSES - Hadley High Stone, Hertfordshire UK . It marks site Battle of Barnet On April 14th 1471. Erected about 1740 by Sir Jeremy Sambrook . The 12ft high obelisk is inscribed 'Here was fought the famous battle between Edward IV and the Earl of Warwick, April 14th 1471, in which the Earl was defeated and slain'. The obelisk was moved c1840 from its original site where Warwick is said to have died,200 yards further south.
