Hedenbergite crystals in their host rock. Hedenbergite is an iron-bearing mineral belonging to the pyroxene group. It only rarely occurs in pure form and is sometimes synthesised in the lab for scientific purposes. It is usually found in metamorphic rocks. This specimen is from Nordmarken, Sweden, and measures 110mm wide.
