Bone cancer. Scintigrams (gamma scans) of a 51 year old man with a myxoid chondrosarcoma growth (black) in his right humerus (upper arm bone). Chondrosarcomas are rare malignant (cancerous) tumours found in the cartilage within or on the surface of the long bones. Myxoid chondrosarcoma is more aggressive than the most common type of chondrosarcoma (intramedullary chondrosarcoma) and does not respond well to radiotherapy or chemotherapy, so full bone removal is necessary.
