12-in-2 Chainmaille Armor for Playmat
Around two months were needed to create this swatch of chainmail but I was able to work in front of the television. To display it to best effect, I brazed together a frame made of copper tubing, and used cotton cord to stretch it in much the same way as an animal pelt (which I haven't done). The shot was taken in full Arizona sunlight at the front of the garage, with all lights out inside and the garage door pulled low. Despite trying for a solid black background, areas of light and color remained. Since this was designed from the beginning to be a playmat (essentially, an oversized mouse pad used by fantasy gaming), I took out the cotton stretcher cords using photo editing software. The image was captured using a Canon 5DS for high resolution.
