This picture was made by Max Slevogt (1868--1932) in Germany; it shows a lynching by an angry mob of a black man, who is about to be hanged (hung?) from a ropewhile a priest watches calmly from a distance. It was first published in Jugend magazine (Youth) in Germany in 1903.
