The plants grow from 12 to 15 inches in height and produce their large, lovely llowers of about 3 to 4 inches in diam- eter, on stiff, upriglit stems. The petals of the flowers are very deeply cut into fine strips of thread-like fringes for one-tliird or nearly one-half their length. The fringes are turned and twisted in all directions. There are all shades of color, from pure white and white with pink or red zones to rose and deep purplish red; even striped flowers and such markings as those of the Heddewigi Eastern Queen are included.
