It has an Alpine origin and does not stand the hot weather well, but with the return of autumn it resumes "a green moss-like growth which it retains through the winter, ready for the early bloom of ; Thus Prof. Meehan describes its char- acter. The common name has no significance now, as it originated long ago by a fancied resemblance to a certain species of forget-me-not which used to be.
