Fatty infiltration and fatty degeneration ofthe heart which are sometimes found in the heart of the agedare pathological and due to impaired nutrition. We sometimesfind a pseudohypertrophy of the muscles due to the prolifera-tion of connective-tissue fibers through the muscle fibers. Thisoccurs in the walls of the bladder whereby bands are formed withpouches and pockets between them. The changes in the skin are of the most varied characterincluding atrophy, localized and more extensive areas of hyper-trophy, anemia, congestion, pigmentation and changes in thecharacter of the cells of the various tissues forming the Section of the Head of the Thigh Bone of a Man of Thirty-seven Years.(From Minots Problems of Age, Growth and Death.
