A feathered headdress, circa 1880 A headdress from a North American Indian tribe (chief?) of brown, robust wool material. The bonnet has two half-hollow horns (ca. 20 cm) from a young bovine, and fastening straps with remnants of red cloth trim in front. The back piece, about 150 cm long, is made of red felt reinforced with linen. More than forty feathers from indigenous raptorial birds sewn on to it, partly damaged. Traces of wear and age.
