An early pictorial plan showing the parts of a De Haviland Beaver aircraft. Following WWII (17 September 1946) de Havilland gathered a design team consisting of Jim Houston, Fred Buller, Dick Hiscocks, and Wsiewołod Jakimiuk, under the leadership of Phil Garrattto to design a new all-metal aircraft. The maiden flight took place on the 16 August 1947 . Production began in April 1948.
