'Henry Percy, Earl of Northumberland', (early-mid 19th century). Portrait of English nobleman Henry Percy, 9th Earl of Northumberland (1564-1632). His estates of Petworth House and Syon House were acquired on his marriage to Dorothy Devereux, the sister of Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, in 1594. Percy spent 16 years as a prisoner in the Tower of London where he smoked tobacco with Walter Raleigh. Engraving after a painting, in the collection at Petworth House in West Sussex.
