The Garda Station in Ballyduff, designed by the Jacobs Brothers is distinguished by the fortified dressings that produce a Scottish Baronial-style effect, and which were intended as functional and aesthetic motifs. Rumour has it that the architectural plans where for a building in India, but it was built in Ballyduff when the were mixed up. Until 1921, it was occupied by the (Royal Irish Constabulary) and was then taken over by the Garda Siochána.
