Carcass of a young White-tailed deer buck, killed or scavenged upon by coyotes. Note swollen left foreleg.

This fairly young white-tailed deer buck may have been killed by coyotes. His left front foreleg is swollen due to an injury or infection. An infection may have caused sepsis and killed him, but it's also likely he was not able to escape an attacking coyote or coyotes.
