Barasaurus is an extinct genus of a reptilian type, marine saurian, belonging to the Owenettidae family. It had a slender body with slim limbs and a relatively small head with large eye sockets. There is but one single species known, Barasaurus besairiei, found in late Permian to early Triassic strata in Madagascar. Actual length of this young specimen is 55 cm. (not to be confused with Barosaurus, a giant dinosaur)
