Ormiston Gorge from the Pound Walk, West Macdonnell (Tjoritja) National Park, Northern Territory, Australia
The 223km Larapinta long-distance walking trail through The West Macdonnell (Tjoritja) National Park follows the Heavitree and Chewing Ranges west from Alice Springs to Mt Sonder. The area contains the highest peaks in the Northern Territory. Ormiston Gorge is the trailhead for Sections 9 and 10. The Ormiston Pound walk follows Section 9 of the Larapinta for a short way before climbing over a pass to enter the Pound, a valley hemmed in by mountain ranges.
