Breast cancer. Coloured magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the left breast of a 60-year-old woman with breast cancer. A gadolinium contrast medium has been injected to show the presence of a malignant tumour (cancer, round, bright). Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Symptoms include painless lumps in the breast, a dark discharge from the nipple, and an indentation of the nipple. Early diagnosis can be made by mammography or self-examination.
