This image shows the panel-painting Madonna in the Rose Garden (also known as Madonna of the Rose Bower and Virgin of the Rose Bower) by the German artist Stephan Lochner, which is housed in the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne, Germany. It is usually dated c 1440-42, although some art historians believe it contemporaneous with his later Dombild Altarpiece. It is usually seen as one of his finest and most closely detailed works.
