In the first five figures representing early embryonicstages the arteries were found to penetrate the gland perpendicularlybut to give off branches as they descended. This is depicted in Fig. 13. Ebeu C. Hill 45r Ko typical looping occurs till after the gland is in the scrotum andthe subsequent rapid development has begun. This leads one to sur-mise that the sudden growth, which changes the embryonic organ fromone measuring, 6 mm. x 3 mm. x mm. unto the adult gland measuring65 mm. x 42 mm. x 37 mm., is accountable for this peculiarity of bloodsupply. This seems to be especially plausible when tlie relative positionsof the mediastina of the human and pig testes are compared. Probablythe development is so rapid that the arteries which enter perpendicularly.
