Stanhope in Weardale is the terminus for the Weardale Railway and headquarters of the Weardale Railway Trust a voluntary group and of Weardale Railway’s Limited, the operating company for the ‘Weardale Railway’. Depending on season the service on the line may be via regular diesel trains or periodic steam (heritage) trains. The current timetable should be consulted to determine details. Train services first came to Stanhope in 1862.
