A statue of Poet Laureate John Betjeman on the concourse of the former Midland Railway at St Pancras International station.

Picture by Roger Bamber : 03 July 2015 : A statue of British Poet Laureate 1972-1984 John Betjeman on the concourse of the former Midland Railway terminus St. Pancras station, gazing up at the restored train shed stands on a Cumberland slate slab inscribed with lines from his work. He is regarded as the saviour of both the station and its adjoining hotel. The station is now the London terminal of both Eurostar and East Midland Trains but would have been demolished in the 1960s without the campaign to preserve it launched by Betjeman. It is now a Grade One Listed Building. When it was built in 1868 the arched Barlow train shed seen in these pictures had the largest single-span roof in the world.
