Soudan, Minnesota - The MINOS Far Detector at the Soudan Underground Laboratory, where scientists research the fundamental structure of the universe. The lab is a half mile underground in an old iron ore mine. The MINOS detector studies neutrinos shot 457 miles through the earth from the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory near Chicago.
