Bright field light micrograph of a montbretia (Crocosmia x crocosmiflora) flower's stigma and style. These are part of a plant's female reproductive structures. Pollen grains, a flower's male reproductive cells, land on the stigma and burrow a tube down through the style to the ovary, where they fertilise the female sex cell (ovule).
