Russian tsar Mikhail I Romanov. Detail of the Monument to the Millennium of Russia in Veliky Novgorod, Russia


The Monument to the Millennium of Russia was created by sculptor Mikhail Mikeshin in 1864 and erected in Novgorod Kremlin, on the place were according the legend the mythological Varangian prince Rurik (also known as Riurik) took the power over the Russian tribes in 864. Russian czar Mikhail I Fyodorovich Romanov showed on the monument with the orb was the first czar of the Romanov dynasty who took the power in 1613 as a 13-years-old boy after the Polish invasion.
