Portrait of Julia Dent Grant (the wife and First Lady of president Ulysses Grant) with her eldest children, Frederic Dent Grant and Ulysses S. Grant, Jr. The photo is from 1854 when Julia was 28 yrs portrait is unusual in that she is seen looking at the camera. She suffered from strabismus (crossed eyes) and consequently most of her portraits are in profile.
