Philip Doddridge (1702–1751) was an evangelical English Nonconformist (Congregationalist) minister, educator, and prolific hymnwriter. Doddridge was a contemporary and friend of Isaac Watts, John Wesley and George Whitefield, and was an influence through his writing on William Wilberforce and Charles Spurgeon.
