They are, how- ever, so aeeommodatintJ- that almost any kind of soil will suit them, if supplemented hy the water-pot ; but they like g' living, nevertheless, and line specimens cannot be grown loamy soil. The plant before us may be treated as a hardy perennial, and left out to take care of itself in the open ; or it may be treated as an animal, and will flower the same season if the seed is sown in March. But lietter still is to treat it as a greenhouse plant, raising a fresh every year "witlioiit the )f rich.
