The first ancestor to locate in Monroe (ountvof whom we have any knowledge was NicholasDepui, who came from Esopus about 1725, a wife, Wyntje, and his children—Moses, Samuel,Daniel, Aaron, Catharina, Susanna, Magdalena,Johanna and Elizabeth. By this instrument,which was witnessed by Daniel Brodhead,Abraham Van Campen, Benjamin Dupui andLambert Coyncse, his sons Moses, Aaron, Sam-uel and Daniel are made his executors, andjudging from the quantity of land dividedamong his children, he must have owned avery large tract.
