Perpetual snow in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, USA


The Rocky Mountain Park near Denver, Colorado is open to the public for just six weeks in the year. From around September to July the roads are inaccessible due to heavy snow. The Rocky Mountains represented a formidable barrier to be crossed by the wagon trains of migrants hoping to settle the west.
