Tuff volcanic rocks, upland crags. This rocky outcrop, on Beacon Hill, Leicestershire, UK, within the upland tract known as Charnwood Forest, includes some of the oldest rocks in the UK. These laminated tuffs formed from volcaniclastic sediments and date to 575 million years ago. Some of the rocks here contain some of the oldest fossils in the world.
